The Veldt Poem

Struggling in Silence

Silence seeks through the room, not a sound be heard

Other than the constant clicking noise of tapping on a screen.

Tap, swipe, drag, delete.

We are trapped in an antisocial technological world,

it may be hard to find your way out

But it only comes down to one decision.

Sure technology appears to be opening a lot of doors

for future generations,

But what about all the doors it has been closing.

How are we to be called human if we have no humanity?

no voice to say “hey”

not an ask about your day

As we all rather virtually play.

Not a smile on a face reading through texts,

tweets and comments.

The buzzing sound of the air conditioning blowing through the house.

We rather keep cool indoors

Than be shivered by the wind outside.

When a voice comes aloud

a little chirp of excitement

no enthusiasm in the voice saying

posted!

Nobody listens, or even acknowledges one another.

Reflections, expressions and first impressions,

Why would we talk when we can tweet?

Why imagine when google takes 0.47 seconds

To imagine for you.

We have made this our new reality

When nothing is real at all.

advise to you is to interact

with one another and disconnect,

You don’t have to though.

Sit back in your room on your phone,

it’s not my time you’re wasting

It’s yours.
