Global warming is a problem as it will change the settlement patterns for the Canadians because it will change the needs of people, and the jobs that are needed in that location. Global warming would cause all of Canada’s temperature to shift upwards along side with the population as this will encourage many to move to inwards as the area may provide more job opportunities.
The Cordillera doesn’t offer a lot of options when it comes to moving, as it is inhabitable on both sides of the region as it is surrounded by mountains. People from the lower mainland may choose to move a bit north, near Prince George as that area will get warmer. The lower mainland will become less dense as the population will be more spread out throughout the province
The Interior Plains will get warmer and people will be more willing to move because of oil industry and it wont be snowing for half the year. The population here will increase as this is the major area for mining oil and offers plenty of jobs.
The Arctic will start melting and this will open more routes for boats, this will benefit the economy as it opens up another area for imports and exports, therefore more jobs will be available and many will move here to take on this opportunity. This area may become denser as it is quite empty.
The Canadian Shield will become warmer and this could also benefit many, especially if those move towards the Hudson Bay area as that area will be ideal for farming which can provide many jobs. This region will increase in density as people may choose to gather around the Bay and people who used to farm from the St. Lawrence Lowlands will move up to this area.
Both the Appalachians and St Lawrence Lowlands population are fairly stable as these regions are quite small, many will move inwards to go near the Hudson bay area to continue farming.
