REVIEW OF MY BOOK By Ana Popa- The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas

I am reading “The Boy in the Stripped Pyjamas” by John Boyne. I find this book to be a very interesting read as we get a deep insight on the people’s emotions and feelings during the time of Holocaust. The reason why I chose this book is because I have seen the movie a couple years ago, and it caught my attention due to its way of taking the reader back into time. So far, I have enjoyed reading this book. The story is told from the young boy’s point of view, and makes the reader want to know about the next thing about to happen. I feel like I have been mind blown and remained concentrated on the action throughout the book. Also, I believe I connect with the boy as we both share similar inner struggles. He’s confused about his surroundings and the reason behind his immigration, just like I have been at first when I moved to Canada. He’s been raised as an innocent young boy, and his parents make sure he does not get exposed to the outside world too much… However, he is at the age where he is developing. Due to him being unaware of the political world, he is oblivious to the fact that he may put his and others life in danger.

Now, this is not a book I would normally would reach for if I was browsing for some in the library… However, I am glad we are reading it at school, as it opened my mind towards other genres.
