What did you learn? How can you apply this?
During this assignment, I learned how to work with some basic photoshop tools and also worked on color pairing skills. I used the color pairing skills when choosing the image and what would completely contrast to what I was wearing in the original image. I believe that the photoshop skills can be easily applied in photos that I take personally, maybe someone was in the background or I would like a whole new background to go with the photo as I did with this project. Photoshop is also very useful in school projects if I would like to make any type of brand logo or other visual I want to personalize.
What are some things that worked well?
Some things that worked was were the general selection of myself when I was choosing what to cut out. It was easy to get the shape of my clothing and head out of the picture, for the most part, only running into trouble with the hand. Another thing that worked well was background selection because choosing a nice fall background was easy to find and matched the theme of the month. I also used the blur tool and applied some filters to the image that elevated the scene and made the image of me stand out more.
What are some things that were challenging?
Along the way, I did run into some challenges when I was trying to cut in really close and take the background off of the area where my hand was. Since the space between my fingers was so small it took a bit of fine work to get really close to my finger. Cutting out the background of the fireball was also difficult as some pieces of fire that come off of the main ball were quite small and hard to do but just like my hand, I figured it out.
