Science Method & Paper Airplanes

Our hypothesis was “the more weight added to the plane, the farther it will fly”. This theory was correct. We tested our planes 5 times each. The throw was about the same, the environment and the plane’s itself were also the same. For each plane, we added a paper clip, the first one didn’t have any paper clips, the second one had 1 and the third one had 2 paper clips. Even though the plane went further on trial 2 and 3 for the second airplane rather than the 3rd and 4th trial for the third airplane, the overall was much more.

I learned that since we added the weight at the front of the plane it actually went pretty straight. Normally with paper airplanes, they do not go as straight as you expect them to go, but with ours, most of them were pretty straight. With the design we made, I didn’t expect them to be that straight or to go that far, but I feel since we added the paper clips, it made a huge difference.

What I would do differently is make the plane a bit more aerodynamic because our plane wasn’t really aerodynamic. I would also change the environment because our plane hit the wall a lot. The last thing I would change is making the throws a bit more consistent
