Feeding a man for a year!

Social change can happen with the small actions of dedicated individuals.

When my mom was working at SFU, she saw a homeless man on the street. She saw the man there for a while till she decided to give him some food. From then on, every day that she worked there she gave him. Eventually my dad (who made lunches at the time for us) asked my mom why she always took an extra snack or two? When she decided to finally tell us we asked her why she waited so long to tell us. Her response was that she wasn’t doing it for the glory, she was doing it because she knew what was right. After a couple months of her doing that her co-workers started to also notice and ended up give the man some food too. Eventually my mom got laid off, but what she did there will never be forgotten.

It relates to Gandalf’s quotes because my mom (and ordinary person) did a deed of kindness and love which is what the quote is all about. She didn’t have to help the man out, she could have just let him be and continue on with her day; but she decided to help when no one else would.

It also relates to FEC because instead of telling someone, somebody should do something, she did it herself. She could have just let it slide, but she was being smart and wanted to make a change, even if it is a small one.

For this assignment my overall goal was to make sure I didn’t have any run on sentences.
