La Luna – Jamie and Alyson

La Luna Narrative Poem – Jamie and Alyson

Sailing through the sea,

My dad, my grandpa, and me.

No one around but the great bright moon,

The waves sang like a calming tune.

A box, but what lies inside?

Just like theirs, a hat, to be identified,

As one of them.

Part of the family stem.

With every step, I began to cower,

For as climbed up the ladder it was high as a tower,

As I approached the moon, the stars laid upon it,

Radiant as the sun, and every bit.

They fought, brawled, and screamed as they taught me to sweep,

Every second of yelling made me want to weep.

The brooms were disgruntled as they were thrown about,

And just right then, we all heard a shout.

Flying up above, a light so bright it will blind,

A star came a soaring, so big and divine.

It smashed to the surface with a, “crash, pow, bang”

And attached to the moon, it really did hang.

The fighting continued on what we should do,

As I turned my hat backwards, what to do? I knew.

I climbed up the star and gave it a tap,

And what do you know, a million stars, just like that.

And stood there they did, jaws dropped to the floor,

Their fighting, once loud, was loud no more.

Calmly I raked up the stars, so they’d see,

There were more ways than two, in fact, there were three!

For sometimes in life, you must agree to disagree,

My dad, my little old grandpa, and me.
