Week 11 – Solving and Graphing Linear Inequalities

This week in pre-calculus 11, we learned how to graph and solve linear inequalities. Basically, it goes like this:

If the inequality is greater than or equal to y, the inequality would be y=<2x+5

To graph this point, you would first graph it like we did with the quadratic equations however, because it is a linear equation not containing x^2, the graph will just look like a straight line either vertical, horizontal, or diagonal. Then once you graph what you have, you connect the line to be either as a solid line (meaning that it is a less/greater than or equal to) or a dotted line (meaning that it is jus less than or greater than), then you shade in the side depending on whether is greater than or less than.

Once you have it all worked out, you have to make sure to practice a lot. I find this unit to be particularly difficult only because it is slightly tedious to do. But once you work on a bunch of questions, you will start to understand it better.

Thanks for reading and hope you learned today!
