Fire:
- For a small fire, smother it with a lid, baking soda, wet towel, etc. (don’t use water in case of grease fire.)
- Don’t leave a hot stove unattended.
Burns/Scalds
- Turn all pot and pan handles inwards so they can’t be knocked over and cause burns.
- For a minor burn, run under cool (not cold) water until pain subsides, apply an ointment, and cover with a sterile, non-adhesive bandage.

Cuts
- Hold the food being cut by tucking fingers and thumb under your hand to avoid cutting them.
- Cut on a cutting board, not in your hand.
(don’t do this) - If a minor cut occurs, wash wound and apply pressure until bleeding subsides. Apply an ointment and a sterile bandage.
Heavy Lifting
- Lift with your legs not with your back and don’t twist your body when holding heavy objects.
- Ask for assistance if the object cannot be carried by one person.
How to Prevent Food Poisoning
- Handle raw meat in a safe manner
- Make sure everything is cleaned thoroughly (hands, dishes, cloths, worktops)

- Recycle
