This week I learned many things, but one thing that stood out to me and had me thinking the most was converting mixed radicals to entire radicals and vice versa
The symbol is called the radical symbol. The number inside the radical symbol is called the radicand. And the number at the top left, outside the radical symbol is called the index.
How To:
Step 1:
Take the coefficient of the mixed radical and multiply it by the index
4 x 3 = 64
Step 2 My examples of converting both ways
Take 64 and multiply it by the radicant or the irrational
64 x 7 = 448
Step 3
Place 448 inside the radical symbol and keep the 3 in the cornor and left with an entire radical
Step 1
Find the prime factorization of 448
448= 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 7
Step 2
Find groups of the same number according to the number of the index
Step 3
Take both of the twos and multiply them and take the remaining 7 and it put it within the the radical symbol
Step 4
Put the 4 on the outside left of the radical symbol with the 7 within it and don’t forget the 3 as the index in the top left corner.
