Last week I came up with a lot of new ideas and concepts to add to my book. I decided I did not like how my book started. My first page in my book was the most boring in my opinion so I decided to cover it with a collage. I used pictures from a magazine that had pictures of gardens and made a montage of them. I think this is a good way to start my book, because it sets the tone for the rest of it. I used fragmentation for this page and collage.
The next page I got done was my flower page. I got a lesson on colour theory and learnt how to desaturate colours, and why it is important to do so. I think my page looks so much better after adding the different colour shades. I used crayons and poetry for this page.
After that page I added my pop out. I cut out a picture of a dear silhouette and coloured the back side black. I then found a picture from a magazine that I wanted to use as the background. I used cut out as well as poppet to make this page.
I then referred back to the criteria because I wanted to make sure I got all of the criteria I needed included in my book. This is when I decided I wanted to include rotation in my book. I immediately thought of Starry Night and thought it would fit my theme if I tried to recreate it. These pages allowed me to use rotation and acrylic paint at the same time.
I also started printmaking. I chose a mushroom to go with my theme of nature. At first I was pressing too hard with my tool which made it difficult. As time went on, I learnt how to do it better, and I got better at it by the end.
I learnt how to stamp a print and I printed my mushroom on a piece of paper
I am proud of the work I got done this week and would not have changed anything. My goal for next week is to make sure I finish up all of my pages in my book for this part of the project.
