The main scenes which we chose were the main plot points of the film. These scenes had a beginning, middle, and end. We believe it fully showed what the film was about and told the story in our own way. It had the initiating incident, which is when I get killed by Evan after attempting to leave him. The rising action is when Evan cleans up the mess form the murder and the cops come and question him; he pretends to be sad and confused so the cops don’t suspect him. The climax is where Evan feeds the cops the murder weapon. The cops have no idea and eat the “lamb” when only Evans character knows it was the weapon used to kill me. Finally, the falling action where Evan laughs maniacally into the camera and it shows his dark and twisted side. These scenes created a full plot line and showed the entire story. We also added in any extra scenes for humorous effects. We chose lamb to the slaughter because it had the same amount of people of our group as well as we had a perfect setting and thought it would be very fun to bring to life. Going through with this process has taught me that every detail makes or breaks a film. That even the littlest of things can add to your story or ruin it. When planning you have to plan to the absolute tee and make sure that you know everything you’re going to do and say.

Multimedia poetry anyalisis- Tide

Title of Poem: Tide

Type of Poem: Elegy

Author: Soraya Peerbaye

Literal Meaning

After you read the poem, what does the literal meaning seem to be? What is happening in the poem?

The poem is about a girl who is found dead but no one was looking for her or seemed to care. Her body laid in the open floating in a body of water t for eight days till it was finally seen by the moons light shining around her. The water is surrounded by infrastructures that are filled with people but still the poet is angered by the fact that no one was able to see her.

Imagery

Pick out three uses of imagery and write them below (this will most likely be a phrase or line from the poem), then explain what the poet is trying to convey with this image. (include line citations)

1]. IMAGE: “The tide tugging her gently past” (line 2)

MEANING: this describes the girls corpse floating in water and being pushed around by the water in a delicate manner

2]. IMAGE: “caress of eelgrass”(line 8)

MEANING: this also paints a picture of the women’s corpse floating in the water and how it is slow enough that the grass in the water touches her but she is still moving through it

3]. IMAGE: “the moon returned, made chalk tracings around her shape”(line 11)

MEANING: this shows that one night, when the moon shone bright the women’s body was able to finally able to be seen. This mimicked the way a police officer would trace a body with chalk- almost being facetious.

Lyric Qualities

Describe the sound of this poem. You will use terms like: internal rhyme, rhyme scheme, alliteration, onomatopoeia, and repetition. Find two specific lines or elements of the poem to discuss. List them and then tell what you think they mean.

(include line citations)

1]. Lyric Device: “The graze and drag of her” (line 6)

Meaning: this is an assonance and describes the movement of the girls corpse through water. Describes the way the water moved around her and how she moves through it

2]. Lyric Device: “this is not a hidden place”(line 5)

Meaning: this is also an assonance and I think this is the author making fun and making others feel guilty. She is saying that it took them over 8 eight days to find her body when it was out in the open not even hard to find as well as surrounded by people.

Figurative Meaning

Find at least two figurative devices and explain what they mean. You are looking for terms like: simile, metaphor, allusion, symbolism and personification.

(include line citations)

1]. Figurative Device: “the Comfort Inn; houses, tall and gambled” (line 3)

Meaning: this a symbolism representing people. The comfort inn is a hotel which is where people resided as well as houses. The author is saying the dead women was surrounded by people who were capable of seeing her but didn’t because they weren’t looking in the first place

2]. Figurative Device: “the tide tugging her gently past”(line 2)

Meaning: this is a personification of the tide tugging the body as it wasn’t actually purposely doing anything it was just her body going through the water on its own mechanics

3. Figurative Device: “the moon returned…” (line 11)

Meaning: a personification of the moon. The moon doesn’t actually return it is just the way the earth rotates. It’s expressing that it is night again and was the one to uncovering the body.

Theme

What do you think is the message of this poem?

When no one is looking for a person or are avoiding them, that person will not be found for a long time

Historical Background Paragraph

Why do we have to know the historical background in the novels?

Knowing the historical background and setting is important to not only the plot but the characters of a novel.  It can help us understand what motivates people to do what they do, and how or why things happen in said story.  Also, knowing the context of a story can help decipher between deeper meanings and symbolism.  Without knowing the full story somebody can miss interpret or misunderstand large portions of the story. A story’s entire point can be completley lost if the reader cannot see all sides and perceptions.

The Pedestrian Video Assignment

Technology Today: Is a Scourge or Blessing
Like many things in the world, what you give is what you get. This goes for diets, assignments, and even technology. In the last couple decades technology has advanced more than our ancestors could have ever imagined; and with all the good its brought us there has also been some bad. However, the bad that’s been created like: online pedophilia, mental health deterioration, and severe lack of privacy has all been the product of human error. Technology doesn’t create bad, we do. Our lack of privacy online is due to what we allow to be put online. Things like mental health, stalking, and environmental issues existed already, and technology hasn’t changed or enhanced it; the new and upcoming generation must learn from our mistakes, and use technology for good. The way it’s supposed to be used. Technology can solve so many of our current global issues. For instance: we are making great advances in renewable energy sources and are steaming farther away from fossil fuels. According to a study done in Wales for the last 140 years, technology has created over 1.2 million jobs- more than which it has taken. How can you contribute to this? Be more aware of what you post. Think twice before you click send, and think about the consequences. Also, think about recycling. If your phone or computer dies look into local places that takes those parts and recycles them-contributing to an eco-friendly future. Like any superhero with power and abilities, we must use technology to benefit the greater good. Think into the future and see how we can reach all the goals our ancestors thought we’d accomplish; see all which we can achieve, and what we’re capable of. Why is technology and it’s part in the future important to us? It’s important because, we are the future. The world we create is the one we must live in. We must learn from past mistakes and grow so that our kids, and their kids can live happily and healthily. Technology might not be the answer to global warming or health problems, but it the first big step in getting the ball rolling. Let’s create something we can be proud of, and give us a gift to our future friends and family. The future is in our hands now, and so is our smartphones; it’s time to use both to come together and change things.
