Digital Footprint

September 21, 2020

How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities?

A bad digital footprint could prevent you from getting a job or even losing a job if an employer sees something they don’t like. A poor digital footprint could also stop you from getting into a university and could ruin your reputation if you or someone posts something you would not want online.

Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe.

Make your social media accounts private. Think about what you are posting and make sure it’s appropriate and safe, don’t post things you would not want people to see. Don’t use your full name unless it is necessary and don’t use social media for everything you do that way you have a smaller footprint.

What information did you learn that you would pass on to other students? How would you go about telling them?

I learnt that you should think about what you post. I would tell my friends to be careful about what they post because it could hurt their future and it might prevent them from getting opportunities just because they made a unwise decision when they were younger.
