Capital Punishment in “Two Fishermen”

Capital punishment started in 1865 in Canada and the punishment was restricted in 1976 but was still used in the Canadian national defense act until 1998 when it was changed. during class we read a short story “Two Fishermen” by Morley Callahan where a man named Thomas Delaney was hung because he defended his wife after she was assaulted. if the story took place today it would have had to been before 1967.

i don’t think that Thomas Delaney should have died because he was defending his wife and if i was defending my spouse then i would want the world to know who attacked them and the real culprit. i think that Thomas Delaney had a good reason for attacking and killing Mathew Rhinehart but i do think under other circumstances then Thomas Delaney should have been killed but he was defending his wife
