3 things I will do to stay safe at work are…
1: Ask Questions about possible hazards in the work place
2: Remind myself of possible hazards when using possibly hazardous machinery
3: Make sure I am not lazy and trying to cut corners by doing dangerous actions to get something done fast
2 things I will do to keep others safe at work are…
1: Remind others of how to use hazardous machinery if I am sure how to use it safely
2: Remind others when they are doing something that could be hazardous to themselves or those around them.
The workplace hazard story that stuck with me the most was Matthew’s story, where he got 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree burns all over his body after dropping deep fryer oil due to the floor being cleaned at the same time. This story stuck with me because restaurant jobs are very common among those who are starting in the work force, and this accident could happen to anyone who is not careful of their surroundings. Matthew also talks about the excruciating pain he endures while recovering and I agree with him that no one should have to feel such pain over something that could be easily avoided.
