I believe statistics are used widely in our society, they are the outcomes from political votes, medical treatments, and company surveys. The largest use would be in politics because statistics are used to give seats in government and to figure out who will have power.
After reading the article I learned that statistics can be incorrect at times, or can be biased. Some surveys could have biased questions leading the answers in one direction rather than the other.
Some of the problems with statistics are Bad sampling, an example is only asking 100 people and assuming the statistics from that are a reasonable prediction for a much larger amount of people. Another problem is unfair polling questions, which is when questions are constructed to make one side more favorable than another. Finally, a large problem is when statistics are faulty or fake/fabricated, sometimes used to make someone’s point seem more important by using larger numbers than what is true.
