Science app review

Problem: The problem I had was with studying, I never have the time to make cue cards or anything so an app that would help with studying.

Brainstorm: An app that has many options for studying would be best, some options to choose from for studying is mini tests or using cue cards. I looked on websites that recommended apps for science. Including: www.educationalappstore.com/app/category/science-apps and www.tomsguide.com/us/best-science-apps,review-2866.html

App choice: The app I chose was Quizlet, I had used it before in grade 8 but I had barely used it.

Review: Quizlet is an app that allows you to access information that you and others are learning and using that to study with. I find the app helpful because its very mobile and it has almost all subject areas from languages to sciences. Some pros of the app is that; it’s very easy to understand, it is easier to use (for me personally) than making a bunch of notes or cue cards and it’s something I can use for all subjects. Some cons of the app are; that you can’t use it unless you have wifi unless you want to use all of your data, it takes a while to find a post with all of the info you need and it takes a while to figure out how to make your own post. In the end of it all I can see myself using this app in most subject areas to study for tests or just for review.

Debrief: in this project I had aimed to find an app that would help me study without the hassle and time it takes to make cue cards. I decided to use was Quizlet, I found that it was very good but there was still difficulty finding all of the information needed. I wish that there had been more information based on stuff from grades 9 and up but I found more middle school level information.

Questions:

How does the app help users build skills or learn content?

Quizlet uses entrees users have put on the site, you look up the subject you need help with (I looked up electricity because that’s the unit we’re on currently) and you can find a set that clearly has what you are learning currently and need to study and you review it and it gives you a test on the subject, which I think is a good way because it prepares you for the test you need to study for.

How intuitive is the app? Is it self explanatory or does it take a long time to figure out?

I feel as if the app was fairly self explanatory, you type in the subject base and different options come up, it might take a while to find one that has exactly everything you need though.

What innovative elements does the app utilize?

The app utilizes other people and students who are learning the subjects, because you can make your own study page or someone else’s. Its innovative because you’re learning with other people but in a fairly new way. You’re on an app/website that is used widely and you all share the information.

  1. Thank you for sharing the steps of solution fluency. Keep in mind, you are not debriefing the app, but debriefing the process you went through. You have done a great review. Adding some screenshots would help get your message across. Great work!
