This week, I learnt in which order to factor equations.

First, you need to take out any common numbers.

$50x^2-8$$2(25x^2-4)$

Next you’ll want to check if it follows the pattern $x^2+x+(number)$

As this equation does not, we don’t need to do anything. here’s an example of a number that does follow the pattern:

$3x^2+19x-42$$(3x - 2)(x + 7)$

Back to the original equation, the final step is to see if the whole equation is a power of something else.

$2(25x^2-4)$$2(5x+2)(5x-2)$

Which gives you your finished and fully factored number.

$2(5x+2)(5x-2)$
