math tutor journal

When I got to room 220 this morning, I noticed that there was another tutor but only 1 math support student and he was on his phone. Of course. this seems to be a an everyday occurrence at math support. The majority of students have no intention of improving at math and seem content to just sit around on their phones. I’ve also noticed that sometimes the students in math support are clearly doing absolutely nothing, but when Mr. Muro walks by they just say They’re working on something else that has nothing to do with math even though there is nothing in front of them. I’m not saying this is everyone, but I don’t feel like these select few should keep coming to math support if they just waste their own time and the time of others. I thought today was going to be another uneventful day. Fortunately today Mr. Muro gave the kids who were doing nothing some worksheets so because I was sitting right next to him, and acquainted with him from playing on Riverside’s basketball team with him I helped Jolou for most of time. The worksheet that Mr. Muro handed out was a fill-in-the-blanks worksheet. The terms were fairly simple, and Mr. Muro even said we should have learned these from between gr. 4 and 8.
