I stumbled upon this article while trying to find more information about the effects that Social Medias have on our mental health.  This article was written to try and educate people.  This person clearly wanted to share their opinion on the matter.  The Author is an educated person in the field and I can’t help but notice that.  She clearly knows what it is she is talking about.  I should not be one to question this persons work but no matter how many facts they did use to back up their points I still disagree with what they had to say.  Again I have no where near the amount of expertise that this person has but I still want to share my opinion.  In the article one of the doctors quotes “technology is not the problem, we are”.  Of course he is referring to mental health and how it is being effected by social media.  And I can see where he is coming from, a lot of the pressure and stress coming from social media is coming from others.  Popular influencers for example,  but I think he took it to far.   I believe that yes people using social media are partially to blame when it comes to the deteriorating mental health statistics, it is more so the tech behind all of it that really takes a toll on the adolescents.  Social mediums are designed to keep you hooked.  Put yourself in a teens shoes.  You are browsing your feed when suddenly the most popular person at the school posts something.  The longing to be like them takes a toll on some people.  Sometimes it is too much to handle.  That is not the fault of the person posting, he or she never intended to hurt anybody.  That is 100% the fault of the algorithm make sure that the person saw the post.  It happens more than one might think.  Final take away,  stay safe online, set restrictions for yourself, and be yourself.  You don’t have to be like anybody else to be cool.
