What Are Dams?
As you’re driving down the mountains you see those gigantic gaps in between and you wondered to yourself on what those gaps were but when you got older you started to realize what the gaps were and what they did. They were dams and they were used to produce energy to help run our homes, buildings and even our electric vehicles.
How do dams affect the environment?
Dams affect the environment by causing construction workers to deforest forests, making animals lose their habitats and even their lives, but it’s not just animals that are affected, it’s also the oxygen we breathe. How it’s affected is by causing it to become so polluted to the point where oxygen will become non-breathable. The reason for this issue is because we need forests because forests contain trees and trees help clean out the earth’s atmosphere to help make our air clean and breathable and without that how are we supposed to survive.
What are the benefits of dams?
Now even though dams cause many challenges to our environment, there are many benefits that come with it. One of the benefits is to help control rivers, lakes and streams from causing mass floods to local cities. How it helps is by filtering excess water by transporting it to many irrigation centres, picnic areas, parks and water storage’s, now without these dams, there would be massive and increased floods causing crops to die and washing away minerals from forests. Another benefit from dams is debris control and what it does is help clean out any hazardous materials and detrimental sedimentation from the environment.

Statement: So, Justin Trudeau if you do happen to read this then surely you will understand the effects of buildings dams across B.C and not its effects on animals but also on us humans because of one you can’t just brush this off with money because of no matter what this will never end until you find a permanent solution to this issue. Even though there are benefits to this issue, you can’t just wait until those benefits over pile those harmful effects. Those effects will still be there and start to become even more hazardous driving us to the point where our lives will become miserable. So, Justin Trudeau when will you finally stop thinking about your needs, economy and global issues and start thinking about what this planet needs in order to survive. Take this message.

One benefit of dams that you need to add to your list of benefits is that they are a good source of renewable energy. A cost benefit analysis (in terms of environment and financial) is needed for sources of electricity to really get at the best way forward. Great information fluency post.
