Digital footprint

Digital footprints can affect us in the future opportunities because when you go to get a job the people who are considering hiring you will look you up on the internet to see what they can find on you. When someone googles you you would think that since you deleted that one Instagram post that was inappropriate no one else would ever see it but your wrong they’re are ways for people to see them still because the will always be lingering on the internet. Another way your digital footprint could hurt you in the future is collage applications when you try to get into the best collages they look at your application but also try to research you since they want the best students at their schools. So if you posted something on snapchat of you and your friends doing something illegal and that is found by the collages or the jobs you applied for they wouldn’t want to accept or hire you because you would be a bad example at their school or workplace

Keeping  your digital footprint safe is a fairly easy thing to do and one way to do that is by thinking about what you post before you post it maybe even get second opinion like your parents or another friend but just make sure that you have thought about this thing before posting it. One thing no one thinks about is trust can u trust someone enough to send them a picture or text message for example everyone uses snapchat but what no one thinks about is the fact that none of those pictures really ever disappear so when your sending that picture to someone make sure you can trust them enough to not how it people or post it on there social media or even just save the picture to their own devices. The simplest way to avoid a dangerous digital foot print is just not posting things on social media or not even making social media but even with that you still have to monitor what other people post about you on social platforms.

Some information i learned about during this project is that your digital footprint can affect your life heavily in the future without you even knowing. If there was something I could pass on to other students it that you need to be careful while on social media sites and to watch what you post to think about it before you post it and to think to yourself will this one picture affect me in the future because although you might think you can delete them they will always be on the internet and will come back to haunt you.
