We created a DNA model out of marshmallows, liquorice and toothpicks. The liquorice acted as the backbone for the DNA, the marshmallows are the bases and the toothpicks were the bonds between the bases and backbones.
In this activity we had to create a DNA sample of code that was given to us. Specific marshmallow colours represented specific bases:
Guanine: Green
Cytosine: Pink
Adeline: Yellow
Thymine: Orange
Green and Pink could only go together and Yellow and Orange could only go together so we had to figure out which marshmallows go where by using the code : TAC GTA TGA AAC This is a double helix version of our DNA sample
