Blackout Poetry Reflexion – Adam Merbah – Eng 9 – Block A

Blackout Poetry Reflection:

Write about your two blackout poems in a short paragraph:

  1. Did you like making them? Why or why not?

I liked making these poems. They were not too difficult and I liked how I found actual messages in them.

2. Did they help you form opinions about current events in our world?

sort of. In one of the poems, I talked about society and how it relies on big businesses.

3. Consider the following Big Ideas of English Language Arts 9 – What ones do you think you used while writing these poems?

  1. People understand text differently depending on their worldviews and perspectives
  2. Exploring storiesand other texts helps us understand ourselves and make connections to others and to the world.
  3. Language and storycan be a source of creativity and joy.
  4. Textsare socially, culturally, and historically constructed.
  5. Questioning what we hear, read, and view contributes to our ability to be educated and engaged citizens.

I would say I #3. Using language and story and changing it into something else is fun and creative.

4.  What was the hardest part about creating your blackout poems? (The visual aspect, finding the right words, forming an opinion?)

Finding the right words was difficult and forming them into a sentence was also difficult. Even finding the right article was hard because some of them don’t have the right words to form into something.
