Week 5 – Equation multiply using distribution property

In the past, we learned about (number x number). It is usually solved by just putting in to

calculator. Although if u face with (equation x equation), we don’t know exactly how to solve.

This is how we use distribution property formula back in math 10. For example,

(x+1) x (x+2) = ?

it is solved down below :

(x+1) x (x+2) = X x X + X x 1 + X x 2 + 1 x 2 = x^2 + x + 2x + 2 = x^2 + 3x + 2

What if we have coefficient in front of x, lets solve it.

(3x+ 4) x (2x + 7) = ?

it is solved same as before :

(3x + 4) x (2x + 7) = 3X x 2X + 3X x 7 + 2X x 4 + 4 x 7 = 6x^2 + 21x + 8x + 28 =

6x^2 + 29x + 28

In conclusion, make sure there is coefficient in each equation and don’t forget to include

that number when multiplying.
