Week 2 Math 10 – Scientific Notation

Scientific notation is used to shorten large numbers. The format for scientific notation is x * 10^z. The x is a number under 10 such as 1.029 or 8.293. The ^z is the number of decimal places to the right if its a positive exponent or the number of decimal places to the left if its a negative exponent. Below is an example of how to use scientific notation.
